Mouse River Studio focuses on Functional Ceramics and is committed to teaching adults and children about clay in a fun, supportive environment. We offer both Hand building and Wheel Throwing classes, suited for all levels. If you've ever wanted to learn about clay, and dream of getting your hands dirty, give us a call!

Fall 2018 Classes

Adventures in Hand building

This class is for people with some knowledge of working with clay- who want to expand their skills. There will be no introduction to the wheel in this course- but if you have experience on it you are welcome to practice those skills. We will cover more advanced handbuilding methods; pieces with components like spouts and lids, making sets, platters, and using slump and hump moulds. 

Runs: 6 weeks, Monday Oct 29th- Dec 3rd
Cost: 150.00
Includes one bag of clay and use of studio tools and Glaze.

Winter 2019 Classes

Adventures in Clay

This class is for people who have taken an intro class in clay already- and want to expand their skills- you'll choose either to work mostly on the wheel or mostly in hand building, and if you've never tried the wheel I'll get you started! Some of the projects we'll cover will be making a series of works, and we'll continue working with lidded forms, and exploring surface decoration.  This class will also have an open studio time on Sundays from 10-12.

Runs: 7 weeks, Monday February 25th- April 1st, 7:00-9:30 pm
Cost: 175.00
Includes one bag of clay and use of studio tools and glaze.

Intro to Clay

Always wanted to try building from scratch in clay? Now's your chance! We'll cover the basics of hand building and get you ready to take on the Pottery Wheel. Projects in this class include a pinch pot planter, a supported coil bowl, and slab mugs. 

Runs: 5 weeks, Wednesday February 27th-March 25th, 7:00-9:30 pm
Cost: 145.00
Includes one bag of clay and use of studio tools and glaze.

Workshops

Couples Clay

This is a fun way to flex your creative muscle with your sweetheart or best friend! On the first night  you'll work together to build a supported coil pot, and learn a bit about the basics of clay. On the second night we'll do some glazing and have an opportunity to try out the pottery wheel as well. 

Runs: 2 weekends, Saturday February 16th and 23rd, 7-9:00 pm
Cost: 40.00 per couple

Kids Clay

This is a fun class meant to introduce kids to hand building techniques, we'll make fully functional pinch pots, coil pots, and slab built bird feeders. 

Ages 6 and up
Runs: 2 weekends, Saturday, February 16th, and 23rd, 10:30-12:00
